My team asked me 1 question a week. Now Ai asks me 1 every morning.

The weekly content meeting dies first when the week gets full. Now 1 question lands every morning and I answer it on a walk. The weekly content meeting dies first on a busy week. 1 question a morning replaced mine.

In short
  • The weekly content meeting needs 3 or 4 people free at the same hour, so it is the first thing that gets dropped.
  • 1 question a morning needs only you, 10 minutes and a walk.
  • 1 voice note holds 1 idea. If 3 ideas come out, record 3 notes.
  • 3 taps turn that 1 answer into a published article in your own words.
  • Ai only sounds like you if you feed it a vault of your own talks, notes and articles, every single day.

For years my team had 1 question a week for me. It came inside a meeting. Somebody opened a doc, somebody asked what we are posting about this week, and I talked for an hour.

That meeting was the first thing to go whenever a client needed me, a flight moved, or the day just got full. We pushed it to Friday. Then to next Monday. Then it quietly stopped happening, and the posting stopped with it.

Hand drawn sketch: An empty meeting room with 4 chairs pushed in seen through a big window, and outside on the footpath a man walking past talking into his phone
The room stayed empty. The walk did not.

So I flipped it around. Instead of 1 big question a week in a room, I get 1 small question every morning on my phone. I answer it out loud while I walk. Then 3 taps and it is an article on my site, in my own words.

01Why the weekly content meeting always dies

A weekly content meeting needs 3 things to line up on the same day. Everyone free at the same hour. An idea ready before the meeting starts. And somebody with time afterwards to turn an hour of talk into something a person can actually read.

On a good week you get all 3. On a normal week you get 1. Then the meeting becomes a meeting about why there was nothing to post, which is the worst kind of meeting there is.

The real reason

Why the weekly meeting breaks

  • It needs 3 or 4 people free at the same hour.
  • It asks the owner for ideas on the day the owner is most drained.
  • What comes out is an hour of talk that still has to be written.
  • Nothing goes out if even 1 of those 3 slips.
A habit that needs 4 people free at once is not a habit. It is a wish.

021 question a morning beats 1 meeting a week

The fix was not a better meeting. It was a smaller question.

Every morning my phone gets 1 question. Just 1. It is not a big strategy question. It is the kind of thing a client asks me across a table. What do you tell a business owner who has no content at all. What did you change this year that you were scared to change. Why do most firms stop posting after 3 weeks.

I do not have to pick a topic. I do not have to be clever at 7 in the morning. I only have to answer 1 question I already know the answer to, because it is my own work.

Old way and new way

1 meeting a week against 1 question a morning

The weekly meetingThe morning question
Who has to be free

3 or 4 people

Only me

How long it takes

1 hour, in a room

10 minutes, on a walk

What I have to bring

Ideas and a plan

1 answer

What comes out of it

Notes somebody still has to write up

A draft that is already written

What happens on a busy day

It gets moved, then dropped

I answer it while I walk

0310 minutes of talking, usually on a walk

Here is the whole job on my side. I put my shoes on, I walk, and I talk into my phone for 10 minutes. Nothing gets set up. No camera, no desk, no notes in front of me.

1 note holds 1 idea only. If 3 ideas come out, I record 3 notes. That 1 rule is what keeps the article clean later.

The recipe

What goes into 1 voice note

  • 1 idea only. 3 ideas means 3 separate notes.
  • The thing that annoyed you this week, said plainly.
  • What most people get wrong about it, and what you do instead.
  • 1 small real moment. A client question, a site visit, a thing somebody said.
  • The next step you would give a person who asked you this across a table.

Do not try to be neat. Say the same thing 3 different ways if that is how it comes out. Rambling is better material than a tidy summary, because the messy version is the one that still sounds like you.

The walk is the whole studio.

043 taps, and it is live

Then comes the easy part.

3 taps

From the walk to the published article

  1. 01
    Send the note

The voice note goes to 1 place, always the same place, so nothing ever gets lost.

  2. 02
    Read the draft

A few minutes later the article comes back, written out in my own words. I read it once and fix anything that is not how I would say it.

  3. 03
    Tap publish

It goes live on my blog. No designer waiting on me, no writer waiting on me, nobody chasing me for the file.

There is a 4th tap I added later, because I also wanted the same idea going out as a short newsletter. After the article is published, 1 more button sits there. Substack it. I tap it, it asks me which article, I pick the one I just wrote, and it turns that article into a 300 to 800 word newsletter. Same idea, 1 more place where a person can find me.

I did not hire anybody to build that button. I built it by talking, inside my Claude Code, the same way I answer the morning question.

05Why it still sounds like me and not like a robot

This is the part people skip, and it is the only part that really matters. The Ai is not making up what I think. It is reading what I have already said.

I keep a vault. Every talk I have given, written out. Every voice note I have recorded. Every article and newsletter I have published. Every recap of a call where I explained my way of doing the work. It sits in 1 place and it grows every single day.

The vault

What the Ai reads before it writes a word

  • 01Your talks

Every talk, video and podcast you have done, written out as words.

  • 02Your voice notes

Every answer you have ever given to a question like this one.

  • 03Your own writing

The articles and newsletters you have already published.

  • 04Your calls

The recap of a meeting where you explained how you do the work.

Your knowledge is leaking right now. Every call, every post, every idea you have and never store is gone by evening. Start a vault. Feed it daily. Point an Ai at it. In a year you have a second brain that never forgets and never sleeps.

Hand drawn sketch: A gardener tipping 1 small watering can over a young seedling in a long row of pots, with a tall grown tree in the pot at the far end
1 small pour, every single day.
The win is not using Ai. The win is growing something with it, every day, for a year.

06What to do tomorrow morning

You do not need my buttons to start. You need the habit first, because the habit is the hard part and the software is the easy part.

Tomorrow

The smallest version of this

  • Write down 1 question tonight. Just 1, the kind a client asks you.
  • Tomorrow, walk for 10 minutes and answer it out loud into your phone.
  • Send that note to 1 place, always the same place.
  • Do it 5 mornings in a row before you decide anything about it.

After 5 mornings you will have 5 honest answers in your own words. That is more real material than most firms put out in 3 months, and you got it on a footpath.

Hand drawn sketch: A kitchen table early in the morning with a cup of tea and a pair of walking shoes placed neatly beside the chair, the house still dim
Shoes by the chair. That is the system.
This week

Pick 1 question tonight, answer it out loud on a walk tomorrow, and send the note to 1 place. Do that 5 mornings in a row.

07Questions, answered

Do I need a team for this to work?

No. The whole job on your side is answering 1 question out loud for 10 minutes. Nobody else has to be free, and that is exactly why it survives a busy week.

What if I have nothing to say that morning?

Answer the question anyway, badly. 1 idea per note is the only rule. A messy answer about a real client question beats a clever answer about nothing.

Will it sound like Ai wrote it?

Only if it has nothing of yours to read. Point it at a vault of your own talks, voice notes and published articles, and it writes from the way you already talk.

How much of my time does the whole thing take?

10 minutes of talking, plus a few minutes to read the draft before it goes out. Everything in between is the machine's job, not mine.

Should I still run a weekly content meeting?

Keep it if your team enjoys it, but never let your posting depend on it. The morning question keeps running on the weeks the meeting gets moved.

1 question. 10 minutes.
